Anthony Anderson faced backlash for a shocking comment to Lindsay Lohan when she was just 17, in a resurfaced 2003 interview that gone viral.
The Black-ish star had been hosting The Sharon Osbourne show, teaming up with teenage Lindsay, as she was promoting her new movie Freaky Friday.
During the interview Anthony then 33, chatted with Lindsay, who shared about living with her close friend Raven-Symoné and mentioned she didn't have a boyfriend.
Which prompted Anthony to jokingly remark, "She's single, but looking!"
The Mean Girls star explained, “I'm illegal for people that are old.”
In respond the host said, “Some men like them young. We ain't gonna mention no names, but I'm one of them.”
After the interview went viral fans flocked to their X accounts to share their thoughts over this resurfaced clip.
One fan wrote, “She even said "I'm illegal" lol.”
“This is shocking. Has anyone ever seen footage of him actually being funny btw?”, another added.
A third noted, “'He actually said that out loud”
“Nothing wrong with liking young WOMEN 18+ she was 17,” another user commented.
Now, Anthony's spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly that “The tone of the interview was clearly comedic."
“He regrets if the humor was in poor taste and maintains the utmost respect for Lindsay. Any implication to the contrary is both inaccurate and potentially defamatory,” the spokesperson added.
Lindsay Lohan hasn't addressed the resurfaced 2003 interview yet, as she's currently occupied with promoting her upcoming film Freakier Friday.
