Prince Harry’s secret personal visit to Botswana without Meghan Markle: Details inside

Prince Harry recently travelled to the African country of Angola, in association with the Halo Trust, where he participated in a landmine awareness campaign.

While Meghan Markle did not accompany her husband on his work trip, it has now been reported that the Duke of Sussex also made a personal stop along the way, which his wife also missed.

According to HELLO!, Harry flew to Botswana from Angola, where he is believed to have visited a friend he considers his second “mom”.

Filmmaker Tania ‘TJ’ Jenkins has served as a mother figure for the 40-year-old Prince, who revealed in his memoir that she and her husband Mike Holding have been very dear to him for years.

The Duke met the couple when he was dating Zimbabwean entrepreneur Chelsy Davy, between 2004 and 2011, and the couple made a romantic getaway to Botswana’s Okavango Delta island.

“Both Teej and Mike were talented, brilliant, and wholly devoted to wildlife. I wanted to spend as much time as possible with these two, not just on this trip but in general,” Harry wrote in Spare.

As for how he came to call the filmmaker “mom”, the Prince further revealed that it was during a random moment when Tania “started nagging” him as they prepared to go for a walk.

“It just flew out of my mouth. I heard it, and stopped. Teej heard it and stopped. But I didn’t correct myself. Teej looked shocked, but also moved. I was moved as well. Thereafter, I called her mom all the time. It felt good. For both of us,” he added in his book.

Though he did admit that he made a point to refer to her as “mom” and not “mum”, because “there was only one mum,” a reference to his real mother Princess Diana.

Despite Meghan Markle’s latest absence from Prince Harry’s African tour, the pair however did visit Botswana together during the early days of their courtship, back in 2016.
