‘Wednesday’ season 2: Who’s returning, who’s joining, and what to expect with new faces
'Wednesday' season 2 brings back fan favorites and introduces big names for a darker and twisting new chapter

Wednesday season two is back from today, let's see what’s new in this season. Jenna Ortega is back, and reprises her role as the expressionless Wednesday Addams and also serves as executive producer, bringing a deeper creative voice to the table. This time, fans are in for a season with more spooky vibes, fewer romantic detours, and stronger themes around family and friendship.

New faces at Nevermore
Fresh to Nevermore’s eerie halls are some high‑profile additions. Steve Buscemi joins as Principal Barry Dort, offering an ex‑principal’s quirkiness. Joanna Lumley plays Grandmama Hester Frump, adding ancestral flair. Meanwhile, Billie Piper portrays Capri, and Thandiwe Newton appears as Dr. Fairburn in a guest role. Anthony Michael Hall also joins the cast in an undisclosed role, reuniting with producer Tim Burton.
Pop icon Lady Gaga makes a special guest appearance in Part 2 (premiering September 3) as Rosaline Rotwood, a mysterious and legendary teacher at Nevermore. She also releases a new song called “Dead Dance”, featured in the season and poised for viral attention.

Returning favorites turned up
Many fan‑favorite characters return, some with bigger roles:
Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene Ottinger), Georgie Farmer (Ajax Petropolus), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), and Victor Dorobantu (Thing) continue as students at Nevermore.
Catherine Zeta‑Jones (Morticia Addams) and Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams) now appear as series regulars, deepening Wednesday’s family story.
Isaac Ordonez joins as Pugsley Addams, Wednesday’s younger brother, also upgraded to regular status. He now attends Nevermore and discovers his own static‑electric powers.
Luyanda Unati Lewis‑Nyawo returns as Deputy Ritchie Santiago, also elevated to series regular.
Guest and supporting stars returning or joining this season include Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester), Jamie McShane (Sheriff Galpin), Christopher Lloyd, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo.
Absent faces from season 1
Notably, some characters will not return: Percy Hynes White’s Xavier Thornton and Naomi J. Ogawa’s Yoko Tanaka (vampire student) won’t reappear in Season 2. Sheriff Galpin may pop up as a guest but will no longer be a regular.

What’s the mystery this time?
Season 2 begins with Episode 1 called "Here We Woe Again", directed by Tim Burton and penned by co-creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Premiere episodes arrive on August 6, with four more following on September 3.
In this season, Wednesday returns to Nevermore and digs into darker and more twisted mysteries. She battles unseen threats, navigates visions, particularly a disturbing case involving her roommate Enid, and adjusts to having her Pop‑quaker brother Pugsley now attending school with her. The emotional weight of family bonds is more pronounced, especially in scenes involving her parents and granddaughter, Grandmama.
Creators promise a season that avoids a sophomore slump by amping up horror, surprises, and character growth. And yes, romance has taken a back seat.

Season structure at a glance

Fans old and new will find a richer world, more mystery, and performances that sharpen the edges of Wednesday’s world, all with a human touch and actress‑producer Jenna Ortega steering the ship.
