Unfinished Roles: What happened when these actors DIED during filming
Find out what happened after these 5 actors passed away mid-production

Death, being the epitome of uncertainty, can sometimes call for you even while you’re on the set of an upcoming project.
Below are five unfortunate celebrities who tragically lost their lives while filming.
Take a look at how the production teams stepped in and handled the aftermath of each actor’s death.
Brandon Lee:

Brandon Lee, the son of Bruce Lee, died in 1993 from injuries sustained when a prop gun fired a bullet fragment into his abdomen during the filming of The Crow.
He was filming a scene when his character was shot, but it ultimately resulted in his own passing.
Brandon succumbed to his death at the hospital due to internal injuries, blood loss, and heart failure.
To finish the movie, the production team used existing footage, filmed outtakes, and a stunt double for the remaining scenes, with the late actor's face was digitally imposed in some close-ups, per Buzzfeed.
Heath Ledger:

Heath Ledger died in the middle of filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
After his sudden and tragic death, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell were all brought in to replace his character in the movie, according to Buzzfeed.
The script underwent major changes to show that the main character travelled through different dimensions, his appearance transformed - explained through the addition of Johnny, Jude, and Colin.
Paul Walker:

Paul Walker died in a car accident while filming Fast & Furious 7.
Instead of recasting or rewriting, the studio spent $50 million to complete the film using a combination of CGI and Paul's younger brothers as stand-ins for his character, Brian.
The production team also merged archival footage of the late actor’s voice with his brothers' voices to fill in the gaps in the movie.
An insider told TMZ, "It will take both brothers, Caleb and Cody, to get everything to match up. Our sources say the production team tested the voice of each brother and learned that certain words sound better coming from one brother, and different ones from the other ... so they will combine them to help make the dialogue work."
Philip Seymour Hoffman:

Philip Seymour Hoffman died of a heroin overdose while he was filming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2.
To make it worse, he only had 10 days of filming left at the time of his passing.
Instead of recasting, executives considered using CGI to finish recording his scenes.
However, after some small rewrites, Woody Harrelson and Julianne Moore's characters took on some of his lines.
The studio also included already-existing footage of Philip in scenes where his character would have been present.
Luke Perry:

Finally, Luke Perry breathed his last while filming the Netflix series Riverdale.
The writers decided to dedicate season 4’s premiere to his character's death.
In the series, he dies in a car accident after helping a woman whose car got stuck on the side of the road, per Buzzfeed.
The woman was none other than Luke’s former 90210 costar and friend, Shannen Doherty.
