On the 28th Anniversary of Princess Diana’s passing, Jamie Lee Curtis reflected on a fond memory, recalling the time how she had missed the opportunity to meet the late Princess.

On Sunday, August 31, the 66-year-old actress took to Instagram, sharing that Diana was meant to visit the 1997 set of Fierce Creatures in 1997, the sequel to A Fish Called Wanda.

The cast and crew were busy filming in the woods at Pinewood Studios, when the Freaky Friday star took a short break.

"I jumped in a golf cart and drove the mile back to the dressing room block to use the restroom," she penned.

During those few minutes of her break, Diana had made her way to the set accompanied by her sons Prince William and Prince Harry.

"My driver started banging on the door, saying that she had arrived with her sons, and I jumped into the golf cart, and by the time I got back, she was walking away," she added.

Despite Jamie missing her chance to meet the Princess, she didn’t let that demotivate her. Wanting to express her admiration for the Royal, she wasted no time and quickly penned a letter and had it delivered to Kensington Palace.

To her surprise, she got a reply the very next day.

"She was thanking me for writing and understanding, of course, nature calling as it happens to her all the time, and that she looked forward to meeting," Jamie noted.

But their paths never crossed. Just weeks later, the Princess who was only 36 at the time, tragically lost her life in a Paris car crash, with partner Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul.

Reflecting on the tragedy, Jamie expressed that she tried to cope with the heartbreaking news through a book on insight meditation she was reading at the time.

The book noted that at life’s end, people often reflect on two questions: Did I learn to live wisely? Did I love well?

The Halloween actress commended courage in confronting her struggles, and how she showed deep compassion and dedicated herself to humanitarian work.

But it’s not only Hollywood celebrities who have paid tribute to Diana, members of the British family and people close to her, have also come forward honouring the former Princess of Wales, keeping her spirit alive.
