Netflix confirms Cillian Murphy’s return as Thomas Shelby

Cillian Murphy is a talented Irish actor known for his intense performances in films and TV shows.

The Red Eye actor’s portrayal of Thomas Shelby in Peaky Blinders concluded with the sixth and final season which premiered in 2022.

After the series ended, Cillian expressed mixed emotions calling it the end of a “big adventure” that he spend 10 years of his life.

Although, the 28 days Later star is reprising his iconic role as Tommy Shelby in The Immortal Man: A Peaky Blinders film, set to premiere on Netflix in 2026.

After a long time wait, fans are eager to see Tommy’s return as the film directed by Tom Harper, promises an explosive and intense story line, exploring the Tommy family’s journey during World War 2.

Cillian expressed his excitement, stating, “It seems like Tommy Shelby was not finished with me….This is one for the fans.”

With a star-studded cast including Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth, Jay Lycurgo, Ned Dennehy, Sophie Rundle, Silo’s Rebecca Ferguson and Stephen Graham, this film is expected to be a gripping addition to the Peaky Blinders saga.

But not everyone’s making the jump to the big screen as Sam Claffin, who played the chilling role of Oswald Mosley in Peaky Blinders, won’t be reprising his character in the upcoming film.

The Small Things like These star said, “I did not work out that I have been playing the character for a quarter of my life which is kind of mad.”

He added, “Because we got a really good script and I have a sense of duty to the fans because in my ways they made the show the success that it is. It has a proper bookend to the whole 36 hours of television.”

The Immortal Man: A Peaky Blinders Film movie is expected to premiere in Netflix in the first half of 2026 as the filming wrapped up in December 2024.

Cillian Murphy’s hints suggest it might be the final chapter for Tommy Shelby and the exact release date has not been officially announced, the post-production phase is likely wrapping up, preparing the way for an early release.
