The British Royal family have embraced life as dog owners?
A closer look at the Royal family’s timeless bond with their pet canines

For generations the British royal family have been known for their love for animals and their strong connection to their pets.
From Queen Elizabeth II’s beloved corgis to Queen Camilla's Jack Russell Terriers, animals have played a big role in their lives.
Queen Elizabeth II

The late Queen Elizabeth II was quite fond of corgis.
For her 18th birthday, she was gifted her first ever corgi, Susan, and went on to care for generations of her offspring.
From Buckingham Palace to Balmoral, her dogs wandered freely around the palaces and often accompanied on her trips.
Her love for her first Corgi, Susan, was so deeply strong that she made the surprising decision to have it accompany her to her honeymoon with Prince Phillip.

Back in 2011, Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed a charming English Cocker Spaniel, Lupo, who quickly became a beloved part of their family for years.
However, in 2020, Lupo had passed away. But later on it was revealed that the Prince and Princess of Wales had adopted another puppy into their family.
Their new black cocker spaniel, Orla, was bred by Kate’s brother James Middleton, who was also the one to gift Lupo to them.
In 2025, Orla expanded the family further after giving birth to puppies.
King Charles and Queen Camilla

King Charles and Queen Camilla share their home with two Jack Russell Terriers, Bluebell and Beth.
Adding charm to their royal engagements, the dogs sometimes help out Camilla by lending a paw during her duties. Beth, in fact, came under the spotlight in 2020, by unveiling a plaque at the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
