Angelina Jolie took centre stage at the 2025 San Sebastián International Film Festival on Sunday night, where she presented her new film Couture, alongside her peers.

Joined by director Alice Winocour and the rest of the film’s cast, the Oscar winning actress found the time for a bit of unrestrained political commentary about the current state of her home country — all the while exuding perfection in her elegant choice of attire.

Here are the details you crave:

Fashion

Angelina Jolie stunned in an understated yet chic floor length velvet gown in black, while she left her recently dyed blonde tresses loose.

Her minimal choice in makeup complemented the ensemble perfectly, while the look in its entirety came to be the best promotional material for her upcoming fashion themed project.

A difficult question

While promoting her film, the actress and filmmaker was asked what Variety described as “a timely question”.

“What do you fear as an artist and an American? The actor sighed deeply and took a few moments to answer before saying, ‘It is a very difficult question,’” the outlet further reported.

While Jolie’s full response revealed that she loves her country, “but at this time”, she is unable to recognise it.

“I’ve always lived internationally, my family is international, my friends, my life…My worldview is equal, united, and international. Anything anywhere that divides or limits personal expressions and freedoms from anyone, I think, is very dangerous,” she continued.

Warning against “such serious times”, the Girl, Interrupted star shared her belief about being “careful not to say things casually”.

“These are very, very heavy times we are living in together,” she concluded.

Jolie’s comments came on the heels of multiple developments in the US, chief among them are podcaster and prominent far right figure Charlie Kirk’s fatal shooting and the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s show after the late night host’s comments regarding the incident.
