Hollywood actors with disabilities have often woefully inadequate representation in entertainment industry.

Let's have a look at the list of Hollywood’s famous faces living with disabilities:

1. Tom Cruise (Dyslexia)

The Mission: Impossible actor suffers from dyslexia, a learning disorder he was diagnosed with at age seven that made reading and writing challenging, particularly during his early school years and acting career.

Despite his difficulties, Cruise found ways to cope, such as creating mental images to understand text, and has gone on to have a successful career in Hollywood, becoming known for his resilience and adaptability.

2. Daniel Radcliffe (Dyspraxia)

The Harry Potter star was diagnosed with a mild form of dyspraxia, also known as Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD).

It is a neurological condition that affects coordination and fine motor skills, making tasks like writing and tying shoelaces difficult.

His struggles with coordination contributed to his difficulties in school, which in turn helped Radcliffe build confidence through acting.

3. Michael J. Fox (Parkinson's disease)

Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991 at the age of 29, a condition he publicly revealed in 1998, and in 2000, he established the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with the goal of finding a cure and improving the lives of patients.

The Back to the Future actor has used his public platform to raise awareness, fund and groundbreaking research.

4. Christopher Reeve (Quadriplegia)

Reeve became a quadriplegic in 1995 after a horseback riding accident in Virginia where he broke his neck at the C2 level, that caused paralysis of his arms and legs and requiring a ventilator for breathing.

The Superman actor spent his remaining life like that until his death in 2004.

5. Sylvester Stallone (Partial facial paralysis and a speech disability)

Stallone has a condition that causes his partial facial paralysis and slurred speech due to nerve damage sustained during birth from forceps delivery, resulting in paralysis of the lower left side of his face.

This birth complication affected parts of the John Rambo actor’s lip, tongue, and chin, leading to his signature snarling look and distinctive speech impediment, which also made him a target for bullying in his youth.
