Sean Diddy Combs is awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution as he was acquitted for more serious charges including sex trafficking and racketeering, following a highly publicised federal trial.

The music mogul and founder of Bad Boy Records has been in jail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest in September 2024 and he is expected to be sentenced in October and could still face several more years behind bars.

Letter from Sean Diddy Combs mother, Janice Combs

As part of sentencing memorandum submitted to judge Arun Subramanian, Sean Diddy’s legal team included a personal letter from his mother, Janice Combs.

In her letter, Janice expressed support for her son while acknowledging his mistakes, she wrote, “He has made some terrible mistakes in his life which I know he recognizes.”

A difficult childhood

Janice also shared some of the emotional struggles faced growing up as the rapper’s father died when he was just two-years-old and his uncle passed away when he was nine.

Despite those early traumas, she explained that her son worked hard to take care of her and later, his own children.

Janice Combs final wish

The 55-year-old’s mother wrote, “On December 21, I will be 85-years-old, this separation for the past year while Sean has been incarcerated has been excruciatingly difficult and painful for me and his children. I would like to spend the last few years of my life with my son, Sean.”

Support from family and legal team

The sentencing memorandum also included letters of support from Sean Diddy’s children and other loved ones as his lawyers are asking the judge to give him sentence of no more than 14 months, roughly equal to the time he has already served in jail.

It is important to mention that now, Judge Subramanian will decide on Sean Diddy Combs’ sentence in October.
