Sam Altman reveals his favourite ChatGPT feature yet
ChatGPT Pulse is designed to turn chatbot from a purely reactive tool into proactive personal assistant

OpenAI has unveiled a brand-new capability for ChatGPT, and it already has the stamp of approval from CEO Sam Altman himself.
Called ChatGPT Pulse, this new feature is designed to turn the chatbot from a purely reactive tool into a proactive personal assistant, one that anticipates your needs even before you ask.
OpenAI CEO’s favourite ChatGPT feature
The announcement was accompanied by Altman’s enthusiastic endorsement on social media.
In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Altman called Pulse “my favorite feature of ChatGPT so far” and explained why it stands out.
Unlike traditional ChatGPT chats, where users must initiate every query, Pulse works overnight by analysing recent conversations, personal preferences, and connected data.
By morning, it delivers a curated feed of updates through interactive visual cards.
Altman described this as a major step toward the future of AI assistants: moving from a reactive model to one that is proactive and deeply personalised.
He also compared it to having a “super-competent personal assistant” that not only responds but also brings you timely, relevant information.
What is ChatGPT Pulse?
ChatGPT Pulse is essentially a personalised briefing system. The feature quietly conducts research while you sleep, drawing on your chat history, memory settings, and optional integrations with apps like Gmail or Google Calendar.
The next day, it provides tailored updates such as reminders, curated news, or progress insights on your goals.
Unlike social media feeds, Pulse refreshes just once daily. Notably, updates disappear unless saved, reducing the risk of endless scrolling while keeping the focus on meaningful information.
Users remain in control, with the ability to fine-tune preferences and give feedback to improve the experience over time.
How to use ChatGPT Pulse?
Currently, Pulse is being rolled out exclusively to ChatGPT Pro subscribers in preview mode, with gradual expansion planned for Plus users.
To get the most out of it, OpenAI has suggested sharing your broader goals and interests with ChatGPT, from travel aspirations to parenting milestones.
