‘Life is sent to test us’: Breaking down Prince William’s upcoming TV appearance

Prince William is due to make a rare television appearance for Eugene Levy’s series on Apple TV, and in true royal fashion, there is lots more to deduce from what he doesn’t share than what he gives away.

Embodying the show’s title perhaps, the Prince of Wales will be a guest on The Reluctant Traveler for the episode which is set to air October 3.

Titled Living the Royal Life in the UK, here are the key details from the show’s promotional clip featuring the future king:

Bucket list

Eugene Levy joins Prince William after receiving his invitation to “pop down” to Windsor Castle, where the royal offers the comedian and actor a private tour of the property.

“We provide this service for everyone. We do personalized tours everywhere,” the Prince joked with his guest.

Since the series is part of Levy’s “bucket list before kicking the bucket”, in one of the other promos, William was seen teasing his guest, “Was getting drunk with Prince William on your bucket list?”

“That’s the bucket,” the Schitt’s Creek alum replied without missing a beat.

Looking back

It seems that William took some rare time off to candidly reflect on his personal challenges, particularly from last year.

Branding 2024 as “the hardest year I’ve ever had”, the heir apparent also shared his positive outlook about the more dire situations.

“Life is sent to test us as well, and being able to overcome that makes us who we are,” he said.

Notably, last year saw two essential members of the royal family and certainly the closest to William — King Charles and Kate Middleton — get diagnosed with cancer, an ailment which prevented the two royals from fulfilling their public duties according to plan.

Special companion

While Prince William’s frank admission has understandably attracted the most attention, it is important to note that not all may be gloom and doom on his soon-to-be released episode.

Indeed, the father-of-three is joined by his beloved Cocker Spaniel, Orla, to show their American friend around the Windsor grounds.

On a lighter note, when Levy asked his royal host what he actually does at his home, he received a response not unlike that of any normal parent.

“Sleep. When you have three small children, sleep is an important part of my life,” remarked Prince William.
