Julia Louis-Dreyfus and her puppy brighten Jimmy Kimmel's day

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, known for her iconic roles in TV shows like Seinfeld and Veep, appeared on the September 25 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live and brought along a special guest her family’s adorable puppy as the actress said the visit was meant to bring some comfort to host Jimmy Kimmel, after a difficult week for him.
Meet Ethel, the star of the show
The sweet little puppy quickly stole the spotlight. Julia introduced the pup, saying, “I want you to meet Ethel. She is my sister and her family’s puppy. She’s three months old.” Ethel’s presence brought smiles to the audience and to Jimmy himself.
Why Julia brought Ethel
The New Adventures of Old Christine star explained her reason for bringing the dog on set. Addressing Jimmy, she said, “I thought it’s been so crazy this last week. That to be with a puppy might do you some good.”
The show had been suddenly pulled off the air by ABC the week before but returned on September 23. Julia’s thoughtful gesture seemed to lift the mood, especially when she handed Ethel to Jimmy, who held her warmly.
A puppy who loves free speech
Adding a humorous touch, Julia joked about Ethel’s motivation for coming on the show “She particularly wanted to come on because she’s a huge fan of the First Amendment.”
Jimmy responded playfully, “A lot of dogs nowadays really love free speech.”
