The film industry has a long history of on-set accidents and injuries but unfortunately some leaves permanent scar on actors.
Here are 5 of some of the most shocking incidents from movies that permanent damaged actors’ bodies:
1. Tom Hanks (Cast Away)
One of the Hollywood’s cultured actors did go to a few extremes in his 2000 movie Cast Away in which Hanks played a role of a FedEx analyst, who gets stranded on a desert island for four years.
For the role, the The Phoenician Scheme star lost a lot of weight and then gained it back, which may have contributed to his Type 2 diabetes diagnosis.
"The gaining and the losing of weight may have had something to do with it because you eat so much bad food and you don't take any exercise when you're heavy," the Elvis actor said at the London Film Festival back in 2013.
2. Angelina Jolie (Salt)
In her 2010 action thriller movie Salt, Jolie played the role of a CIA officer accused of being a Russian spy who must prove her innocence while on the run.
To prepare for the intense fighting scenes, Jolie had to learn a combination of Muay Thai and Krav Maga, and some of her stunts very dangerous that caused her to permanently scar her face.
Speaking at Comic-Con, the Maria star said it happened during a scene that involved her rolling onto the floor.
3. Hugh Jackman (Wolverine)
Jackman, who played the famous comic character between 2000 and 2017, during 2024's Deadpool 3 told BBC that his voice and vocal cords still suffer.
"I've done some damage to my voice, through playing Wolverine," said the The Greatest Showman star, adding that he can't reach the high notes the way he once did.
4. Blake Lively (The Rhythm Section)
Lively starrer 2020’s spy thriller The Rhythm Section didn't go well for the actress in terms of action sequence.
The It Ends with Us star sustained hand injury while filming an action sequence that also caused the film to halt production.
At that time, sources informed The Hollywood Reporter that Lively underwent a surgery.
5. Jackie Chan (Armour of God)
The Hong Kong native has a history of having broken fingers, noses, ankles, tailbones due to his stunts.
He even injured his and has a dislocated shoulders with multiple concussions.
However, his worst injury, according to the Rush Hours actor, was from the set of Armour of God.
According to Chan, while shooting a stunt scene, his head hit a rock, sending a fractured piece of his skull straight into his brain, which caused internal bleeding.
Chan required emergency 8-hour brain surgery, which was successful, but the stunt is the closest he's ever come to death.
