Everything you need to know about Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman marriage journey

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman were often seen as a perfect couple, but their marriage faced serious trouble early on as in a recent speech, Keith opened up about the pain and challenges they faced just months after tying the knot in 2006.
Addiction and a breaking point
Keith revealed, “We got married in June 2006 … and barely four months into our marriage, my addictions … that I’d done really nothing about, blew our marriage to smithereens.”
At that point, the Let It Roll singer entered rehab for three months, uncertain if their relationship would survive.
He said, “I had no idea what was going to happen to us … and if you want to see what love in action really looks like, give that a whirl.”
Keith praised Nicole for standing by him, “Nic pushed through every negative voice, I’m sure even some of her own and she chose love.”
Nicole’s own battles
While Keith was struggling with addiction, Nicole went through emotional turmoil. She later shared that their first year of marriage was very hard and painful and on top of that, the actress experienced deep grief when she lost her father in 2014 and her mother in 2024.
During a speech, she said, “He has been so good to me for nine years, but for the last sort of month which has been a really tough time for me … To have my husband just step up that way, it makes me cry.”
The Eyes Wide Shut star words showed how much she had leaned on Keith during her lowest points.
Holding on through the years
Despite the difficult start, Keith shared, “And here we are tonight, 18 years later.”
The couple has raised two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret and continued to support each other through life in the spotlight.
This year, Keith ended an interview with radio station Mix 102.3’s Hayley & Max in the Morning, after being asked about Nicole’s romantic scenes with Zac Efron, showing that even now some topics hit close to home.
