Sean “Diddy” Combs has pleaded with a judge for leniency as he awaits sentencing in his criminal trial today, saying his past actions were fuelled by drug addiction, reports BBC.

The 54-year-old music mogul was convicted in July on two prostitution charges and faces up to 20 years behind bars. Prosecutors are pushing for at least 11 years, but his lawyers want him released later this month.

In a four-page letter to Judge Arun Subramanian, Combs apologised “for all of the hurt and pain that I have caused.”

He added that he had been “humbled and broken” during the 13 months he has spent in a Brooklyn jail.

He admitted that his behaviour towards ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura was inexcusable, writing that he had “literally lost [his] mind” at the time.

He further said that his domestic violence would “always be a heavy burden” he must carry.

“I lost my way,” he wrote, claiming he has since reformed.
