£50,000 Windsor castle makeover for Trump's visit sparks controversy

US President Donald trump’s Windsor castle meeting with Prince Charles recently sparked controversy over venue’s makeover worth £50,000.

According to GB News, taxpayers faced a bill of approximately £50,000 after officials discovered that American flags prepared for Trump's State visit displayed an incorrect shade of red.

The flags' red stripes were deemed too dull, described as a "dull reddish-brown" compared to the desired "cherry red."

So, to avoid any perceived disrespect, officials replaced 66 hand-sewn flags with new ones featuring a brighter, more vibrant red shade, matching the standards expected for the high-profile visit.

In this regard, Nick Farley, whose company serves as the Government's official flag supplier, revealed to The Telegraph that 66 specially crafted flags were commissioned at approximately £800 per banner.

According to Farley, American officials had specified a "cherry red" colour for their national flag, rejecting the standard red previously used.

He further said, "Their red is now stronger than the red on the Union flag.

"The Americans decided that the red we use, which is called R01, wasn't right for them, and that they wanted a cherry red instead, so we had to buy all new flags for this visit.”

It is to be noted here that the three-day state visit of President Trump and his wife Melania, took place last month.

They were welcomed by the King Charles and Queen Camilla, along with the Prince and Princess of Wales.
