King Charles becomes part of bizarre commercial enterprise in North Korea
North Korean ties to King Charles discovered in newly unearthed Foreign Office documents

King Charles has involuntarily found himself at the centre of an unexpected profit making scheme in North Korea from over 40 years ago.
The reigning British monarch and his first wife, Princess Diana, were featured in commemorative stamps issued by the totalitarian regime of former president, Kim Il-sung.
Per The Times, “Documents from Britain’s diplomatic archives reveal that the North Korean government issued four stamps featuring the royal couple two months after their wedding in July 1981.”
While it is further reported that the stamps were geared towards the international collector market, with the Pyongyang authorities planning to make ample payback from the presumably modest investment.
The British newspaper also shared that it was one diplomat from the Beijing office of the British embassy who was the first to discern the stamps from “an English language newspaper issued by the North Korean government.”
In view of the latest developments, it has been noted that while the North Korean rule is often at odds with imperial nations like the US and Japan, it rarely extends the same animosity and disregard for the UK.
