Renowned baker Dame Mary Berry has shared touching insights into Prince William and Princess Kate’s relationship, and her admiration for the royal couple is as sweet as one of her famous desserts.

In a candid interview with Daily Mail, the 90 year old icon opened up about what makes the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s bond truly special.

Berry praised William for being “immensely proud” of Kate and always showing his affection in subtle ways. 

“A little arm around the back, encouraging her,” she described, noting how his quiet gestures speak volumes.

2. A couple devoted to service

“They give their life to all of us,” Berry said, admiring how the pair balance family life with their royal duties.

3. A decade of friendship and charity

Having known them for over ten years through Child Bereavement UK, Berry commended William’s empathy, sharing, “He wants to find out about how everybody is in the country. He lives for all of us. I admire him.”

4. Bonded by shared loss

Both have faced deep personal grief. William losing his mother, Princess Diana, and Berry her son in a car accident, something that deepened their mutual compassion.

5. Baking memories together

Berry fondly recalled filming A Very Berry Christmas in 2019, where she and William faced off in a roulade challenge. With her signature diplomacy, she declared both desserts “equally delicious.”

6. A royal birthday surprise

For her 90th birthday, Berry received a heartfelt letter from the Prince. Calling her “a true national treasure,” William joked, “I dread to think who’s cooking your cake and the criticism they might get, but good luck and I hope it goes really well.”
