In an era where Silicon Valley has often leaned toward liberal politics, a growing number of powerful tech titans are aligning themselves with the Republican Party.

Their influence and their fortunes have reshaped the political landscape in ways few expected.

According to a report by Americans for Tax Fairness, 100 billionaire families poured $2.6 billion into the 2024 US election, more than double the amount in 2020.

Here are the three tech titans who you didn’t know are Republicans

Elon Musk

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter), became one of Trump’s loudest and wealthiest supporters.

Federal filings show Musk donated more than $250 million to Republican campaigns in 2024, making him the largest donor to either party that year.

His influence went beyond money: his social platform X amplified pro-Trump messages throughout the election.

After Trump’s victory, Musk was rewarded with an unofficial advisory role, leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Jeff Bezos

Once a vocal Trump critic, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has since warmed to the US president.

Once known as a “woke capitalist,” Bezos reportedly began fostering a relationship with Trump months before the election.

Mark Zuckerberg

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg played his cards close to the chest, never endorsing a candidate outright.

Yet, he donated to Trump’s inauguration fund and publicly praised the US president’s resilience after the July assassination attempt, calling his response “badass.”

Trump later claimed Zuckerberg privately pledged loyalty, saying, “I’ll never vote against you again.”
