Louis Tomlinson recalls moment he learned about Liam Payne’s shattering death
Louis Tomlinson opens up about Liam Payne's tragic death at 31

Louis Tomlinson revisits the harrowing time when he learned about the tragic passing of his former bandmate and best friend, Liam Payne.
For those unversed, Payne breathed his last on October 16, 2024 after falling off a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the young age of 31.
In a recent appearance on an episode of The Dairy of a CEO podcast, Tomlinson revealed that he learned about the devastating news from his fellow bandmate Niall Horan.
"I found out through Niall," he mentioned, sharing that he was "in the car, in L.A." when he received the call.
The Walls hitmaker expressed deep regret and sorrow for not being able to help the late singer, much like he felt after the loss of his sister Félicité, who died at age 18 from an overdose of cocaine, anxiety drugs and painkillers.
"I had the same feeling that I had with Félicité," he said, adding, "And I think anyone has this when they’re around someone who’s struggling, my 150% wasn’t nearly enough."
Tomlinson also shared that during that time, Payne was going through a tough period in his life, as his struggles were “so much deeper” than anything he could have done to help.
"He was definitely struggling at that time in his life," he continued.
On the work front, Tomlinson has recently signed a multi-million dollar on Netflix alongside Zayn Malik, where they will shed light on their time with Payne and life after his death.
