Kate Middleton pens powerful essay for Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood
Princess Kate teams up with Harvard scholar to warn against a ‘world immersed in digital technology’

Kate Middleton is choosing the power of words to deliver an important message for the welfare of parents and children everywhere.
The Princess of Wales has published an essay for the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, titled The Power of Human Connection in a Distracted World.
Joining her in the quest, the essay is co-written by psychoanalyst and part-time professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, Robert J. Waldinger.
“Our smartphones, tablets, and computers have become sources of constant distraction, fragmenting our focus and preventing us from giving others the undivided attention that relationships require,” the future queen has penned.
Her further remarks underscore the importance of cultivating a healthy, tech-free environment for children to grow up in, as she encouraged parents and caregivers to exert “conscious effort to be fully present with the people we care about.”
“Ultimately, by nurturing the development of social and emotional skills in early life, we will be equipping children with the capacity to love and be loved,” added the Princess.
The latest piece was also promoted on Instagram, shared via official profiles of Early Childhood and Princess Kate.
“Read the full essay by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales in collaboration with @robert.waldinger via the link in our bio,” the organisation noted in its caption.
While Kate Middleton’s work with the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood has become a cornerstone of her work at this point, she is also scheduled to visit an early years centre in Oxford later today.
