Victoria Beckham’s Netflix documentary proves that her name is her biggest draw
‘It’s not about him, it’s about me,” Victoria Beckham declares in Netflix’s self-titled project

Victoria Beckham stars in Netflix’s new docuseries, the aptly titled Victoria Beckham, and it appears that the multi-hyphenate star is ready to reinvent herself once again.
However, does she really need to?
The 51-year-old diva has worn multiple hats over the period of her extensive career — breaking on to the entertainment scene as part of the British pop group Spice Girls, before transforming her entire niche to become a successful fashion designer, establishing a fashion house under her own name.
Even her marriage to former footballer and a star in his own right, David Beckham, thrust her into a prominent, though perhaps, a less desirable territory — that of being a WAG, a rather distasteful acronym which stands for wives and girlfriends, used to describe romantic partners of sportsmen.
Despite mixed critical responses, mostly bordering on extremely lukewarm reactions, Victoria Beckham should offer a generous serving of good old celebrity musings — serving as a welcome distraction from the viewers’ usual humdrum routine, if nothing else — with a side of thrilling cameo appearances from members of her famous family and equally renowned acquaintances.
Candid revelations
Though dripping in glamour from head-to-toe in her usual appearances, Victoria Beckham seized the opportunity to lift the curtain on some of her pre-fame, entirely glamourless, reality.
“I was definitely a loner at school. I was bullied. I was awkward. I didn’t fit in at all,” some of her early remarks in the series revealed.
However, as most artists tend to do, Victoria found solace in her art — albeit, at the expense of losing herself.
“But when you’re on stage, for that moment, you’re somebody else. I didn’t really want to be me, I didn’t like me. I desperately wanted to be liked,” she added.
Fame that ‘hurts’
The former Spice Girl also recounted her early struggles with fame, highlighted by her eating disorder — something she has only just let slip.
“We laugh about it and we joke about it when we’re on television. But I was really, really young, and that hurts,” she opened up about suffering as a young star. “I could control it with the clothing. I could control my weight and I was controlling it in an incredibly unhealthy way. It really affects you when you’re being told constantly you’re not good enough.”
Family dynamic
Though Victoria would like to remind the world that her own brand is second to none, her husband of 27 years, David Beckham, is hard to sideline — even by her.
A constant presence in the documentary, Sir David moves around his wife with an ease that comes naturally after the amount of time the couple have been together.
“She actually bought our first house in Hertfordshire, known as Beckingham Palace,” a proud David Beckham shares in the series.
In turn, the doting husband helped his wife out in her time of need.
“For her to have to come to me and say ‘We need some more money, the business needs more money’, that was hard for both of us,” he recalled.
Additionally, all of Victoria Beckham’s children except one make scattered appearances in the project — Brooklyn Beckham did not join his siblings Romeo, Cruz, and Harper in the docuseries.
“What we get, in lieu of any explanations, is a rather brutal excising of poor old Brooklyn from the Beckham family dynamic. Harper pops up, as do Cruz and Romeo, but we only see Brooklyn (and wife Nicola Peltz) for a few seconds at Victoria’s fashion show in September 2024,” reported London Evening Standard, adding that “A camera pans along the ranks of the family, then united, stops before it reaches the pair.”
