Just like the rest of the United States, Silicon Valley’s elite are also divided along political lines.

While some of the world’s richest tech figures have become vocal backers of conservative ideals, others have aligned themselves with the Democrats.

These billionaires, known for shaping the digital age, are also playing a major role in shaping the political landscape.

Bill Gates

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has long been associated with centrist views but has increasingly leaned Democratic in recent years.

The billionaire philanthropist reportedly donated $50 million to a nonprofit supporting former Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign.

Gates has openly criticised Trump-era policies, especially foreign aid cuts, and expressed concern over the growing number of right-leaning Silicon Valley figures.

Despite being targeted by conspiracy theorists and public attacks, Gates remains firm in his support for progressive causes, particularly global health, education, and climate change.

Michael Bloomberg

Former New York City mayor and Bloomberg LP founder Michael Bloomberg has become one of the Democratic Party’s most influential financiers.

A former Republican himself, Bloomberg spent nearly $100 million backing Democratic campaigns.

He has consistently criticised President Trump, calling him “unfit for high office,” and even stepped in to help fund US contributions to the UN climate programme after Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement.

Sam Altman

Though OpenAI CEO Sam Altman does not yet rank among the world’s top billionaires, he has amassed substantial wealth and political sway.

Once a loyal Democratic donor, contributing to campaigns for Biden, Harris, and Elizabeth Warren, Altman has recently distanced himself from the party.

In July, he declared himself “politically homeless,” criticising Democrats for drifting too far from innovation and entrepreneurship.

Warren Buffett

The “Oracle of Omaha,” Warren Buffett, has been a steadfast Democratic supporter for decades.

He publicly endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016 and has long advocated for higher taxes on the wealthy.

Though he has reduced political donations in recent years to protect his companies from backlash, Buffett remains ideologically aligned with the party’s economic and social vision.
