David Henrie missed Selena Gomez’s wedding: Now he explains why

David Henrie is setting the record straight about why he could not attend his TV sister, Selena Gomez’s wedding, to music producer Benny Blanco last month.

During a recent appearance on Zach Sang Show, October 8, David opened up about what kept him from the nuptials after he previously told Parade Magazine that he would “100% be in attendance”.

“I’m about to announce a project that I was out of state on, and there was no way I could get back. I literally tried every single way to try to get back,” he admitted, while adding that the missed opportunity still “breaks my heart”.

As for his advice on the big day of his little sister from Wizards of Waverly Place? The actor recalled that the best piece of guidance he received on his own wedding was when someone told him, “Hey dude, hold your wife’s hand and take like a solid minute and just look around the room. Look at your wife and go, ‘This is our minute,’ and look around the room and just remember.”

“I passed that on of just like, take a moment to just take it in ‘cause everyone’s going to be coming up to her and everyone’s going to be saying ‘hi’, pulling her in every direction. I hope they did that,” he said on the podcast.

Notably, David Henrie and Selena Gomez’s other co-stars from the Disney show were in attendance at the wedding — Maria Canals-Barrera, David DeLuise, and Jennifer Stone, who played the Russo kids’ parents and best friend respectively, supported their old co-star as she made it official with Benny Blanco.
