Why Jennifer Lopez became Diego Luna’s mentor during Kiss of the Spider Woman shoot

Jennifer Lopez, Hollywood sensational actress, helped her co-star while filming her new musical thriller, leaving fans in awe.

In an interview with PEOPLE, writer-director Bill Condon shared that Jennifer Lopez helped guide Diego Luna through his insecurities while filming Kiss of the Spider Woman.

The reason J.Lo became Luna’s mentor was nothing more than a kind favor.

“Diego came into this as a non-dancer, and he shared his insecurity with Jennifer,” Condon told PEOPLE at the film’s New York premiere.

“She gave him a wonderful note, and it was beautiful to watch their bond grow.”

Condon added that Lopez, who began her career as a dancer, naturally took Luna “under her wing,” helping him navigate the rhythm and emotion of the performance.

“As filming progressed, they spent more time together, talking about the work. It was just lovely to see,” he shared.

Moreover, the movie is an adaptation of the 1993 Broadway musical, starring Diego Luna as a political prisoner who escapes his grim reality through the fantasy world of a Hollywood diva, played by Jennifer Lopez.

Condon praised Lopez’s “wonderful eye” for musicals, saying she brought both star power and heart to the project.
