Sir David Attenborough, now 99 and still burning with passion for the natural world, is poised to launch three new BBC productions as he approaches the momentous milestone of his 100th birthday.

Despite decades of exploring the planet, he remains undaunted by fresh storytelling challenges using his unique voice to guide viewers through the wonders of nature in urban and wild settings alike.

The three ambitious projects

The upcoming slate includes Wild London, Kingdom, and Green Planet II.

Wild London will bring viewers deep into the hidden corners of England’s capital, revealing snakes in canals, parakeets in parks, beavers near shopping centres, fox families in Tottenham and peregrine falcons nesting on the Houses of Parliament.

Kingdom is designed as a sweeping six-part natural history epic filmed over five years in a Zambian river valley. It will follow four great animal families lions, hyenas, leopards and wild dogs and the delicate networks of interaction with elephants, baboons and more.

Green Planet II, the follow up to the successful The Green Planet (2022) will continue to explore the interdependence between plants and animals across ecosystems.

The return to urban wilds

In Wild London, Attenborough acts not only as a narrator but also as a guide. Having lived in London for 75 years, he brings personal insight into how wildlife adapts and thrives within a major metropolis.

This project underscores a continuing shift in his work from remote rainforests and polar realms toward stories of nature in everyday human spaces.

Legacy, voice, and anticipation

Although no firm broadcast dates have yet been confirmed, anticipation is high.

With Kingdom already announced for BBC America and AMC+ in 2026, Attenborough’s voice continues to attract global audiences.

As the British host steps toward his centenary, these new programmes affirm that his curiosity, wonder and narrative power remain undimmed and that his legacy continues evolving, one breathtaking episode at a time.
