An inheritance windfall and expanding royal estates have boosted King Charles’ personal fortune to £640 million, surpassing the wealth of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth, reports The Mirror.

According to the latest Sunday Times Rich List, the monarch’s net worth has reportedly surged from around £30 million to £640 million in just a year, driven largely by the investments he inherited from the late Queen.

The figures suggest the King is now £270 million richer than his mother, whose fortune was estimated at £370 million in 2022.

A major factor behind the King’s growing wealth is the inheritance he received from Queen Elizabeth II, which was exempt from the standard 40 per cent inheritance.

Charles also benefits from the Duchy of Lancaster, a private estate providing the Sovereign with independent income.

Spanning more than 18,000 hectares across Lancashire, Yorkshire, and parts of central London, the Duchy is valued at £654 million and generates roughly £20 million a year in profits.
