Would Prince Harry have married Meghan Markle if Princess Diana were still alive?

Princess Diana’s former butler and confidante Paul Burrell has dished out whether the late princess’ presence has altered Prince Harry’s future with Meghan Markle.

The 67-year-old former royal aide, who worked for Diana for more than a decade, told Radar Online, "If Diana had been alive, I doubt whether Harry would have married Meghan."

According to the late princess’ one of her most trusted friends, the Duke of Sussex was going through his life for the next years lost and didn't know where love was.

"When he heard a 36-year-old mature American woman whisper something into his ear along the lines of, 'You and I could be a great team' or, 'We could change the world' – he didn't hear Meghan's voice, he heard his mother's voice. Because Harry was always searching for love and he found it with Meghan," said Paul.

He said that he believed the late princess would have guided her son through relationships with a "steadying hand."

According to Paul, Princess Diana also had a sense of perspective. “She would have seen the red flags early on – not necessarily with Meghan herself, but with the media storm and isolation that came with her," he stated.

For the unversed, Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in 2018. Both are parents to two children; Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
