Naomi Watts just received one of Hollywood’s biggest honors but the actress admits she still struggles to feel like she belongs.
The King Kong and Mulholland Drive star was celebrated with her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday.
But before the big reveal, she said the recognition felt almost surreal.
Speaking to Variety, she said, “I can’t even believe it,” adding, “It’s interesting, because I have all kinds of imposter syndrome. I’ve always felt like I’m supposed to struggle, I’m supposed to keep proving myself — and this sort of just came out of the blue.”
The Oscar-nominated actress reflected on her long career, saying she’s more used to the grind than the glory.
“I struggled for so long,” she admitted. “I’m so familiar with that side of things more than this incredible good fortune, celebrations like this. It’s wonderful.”
During the ceremony in Los Angeles, Watts thanked her husband, The Morning Show star Billy Crudup, for his “phenomenal love and support,” and gave a sweet shoutout to her children Sasha and Kai whom she shares with ex Liev Schreiber.
