One of the year’s biggest hits, F1, is getting ready for its streaming debut on Apple — with a twist.

For the Brad Pitt starrer’s release, Apple TV+ is prepared to drop the plus symbol and rebrand to simply, Apple TV.

The Hollywood Reporter has described the move as “the end of the ‘plus’ era”, while the company stated that it is aiming for a “vibrant new identity”.

However, the publication has also pointed out that the change may complicate matters for the brand, as Apple TV is already the name of one of their existing entities.

“Apple’s popular connected-TV device, which competes with Amazon’s Fire Stick and Roku devices, is called Apple TV (and has been since 2007),” THR explained.

However, it is also crucial to highlight that Apple’s latest image shift comes on the cusp of similar modifications by their other streaming counterparts — HBO Max rebranded to its initial moniker this year, following two years of being labelled Max, while ESPN+ also dropped its plus symbol in August and plainly became known as ESPN.

Meanwhile, Brad Pitt’s F1 is set to arrive on streaming December 12.
