D’Angelo, the R&B singer known for redefining neo-soul with his smooth vocals and timeless artistry, has died at the age of 51. His family confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement shared by RCA Records, his longtime label.

“The shining star of our family has dimmed his light for us in this life,” the statement read as per CNN.

D’Angelo passed away on Tuesday after what his family described as “a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer.” his family said.

The Untitled How Does It Feel singer became one of the most influential voices in R&B during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

His albums Brown Sugar and Voodoo earned critical acclaim and solidified his place among the greats of modern soul.

“We are eternally grateful for the legacy of extraordinarily moving music he leaves behind,” his family said, asking for privacy as they grieve while encouraging fans to celebrate his life and artistry.

D’Angelo’s voice, passion, and creative brilliance shaped a generation of artists, and his influence will continue to echo through the music world for years to come.
