Charli XCX breaks her silence on rumoured beef with Taylor Swift following ‘After Romantic’ release

Charli XCX has finally responded to speculation of a possible feud with Taylor Swift after fans believed that her latest song takes a brutal swipe at the Apple hitmaker.

In a conversation with Vanity Fair, the 33-year-old English songstress dodged a question about her rumoured rift with the Blank Space singer, especially after fan theories circulated that Actually Romantic, from Swift’s 12th studio album is a diss track aimed at her.

“Charli declined to comment on the situation,” per the outlet.

The lyrics quickly fueled speculation that the song was a striking response to Charli’s Brat track Sympathy is a knife, which had already given rise to rumours about tension between the two artists.

"Don’t wanna see her backstage at my boyfriend’s show / Fingers crossed behind my back / I hope they break up quick," the Boom Clap hitmaker sang.

Though many believed the lyrics referenced Swift, Charli did not confirm or deny the claims.

Instead, she said at the time, “People are gonna think what they want to think.”

This update comes after the party 4 u singer made a surprise appearance on SNL on Saturday, October 11, where she was seen wearing black skirt and a “Max’s Kansas City” T-shirt with sunglasses.

Many netizens alleged that Charli XCX’s choice of top could have been a subtle dig at Taylor Swift and her fiancé, Travis Kelce, as the 14-time Grammy winner is often in Kansas City with her partner.
