Dennis Quaid surprises at 'Dancing with the Stars' with ‘Parent Trap’ costars
Dennis Quaid cheers on Elaine Hendrix's ‘DWTS’ performance

Dennis Quaid showed up at Dancing with the Stars to cheer on his Parent Trap co-star Elaine Hendrix.
PEOPLE spotted the 71-year-old actor backstage before Hendrix and her partner, Alan Bersten, performed a foxtrot to “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)” by Natalie Cole for Dedication Night.
Hendrix, dedicated her dance to their friend and fellow Parent Trap actress Lisa Ann Walter, who even joined them on the dance floor.
Before the performance, Quaid gave both Hendrix and Walter supportive pats on the shoulder and kind words. After the dance, he nodded in approval while the crowd cheered loudly.
"It means everything to me, the love and support of the people who are here and the people who aren't here," Hendrix shared. "I just I feel so much love. And when you are lucky enough to have these kinds of people in your life, you have to hold on to them because they're lifers."
Earlier, Hendrix had told PEOPLE she insisted Walter be part of her Dedication Night, “They said Dedication Week was coming. I said, 'Well, I need to have Lisa Ann Walter there with me.’”
She added that Walter is her "life security blanket," while partner Alan is her "show security blanket." She said Walter “just knows” how to calm her down and support her when she needs it.
The Dynasty star also reflected on her connection with Dennis Quaid during The Parent Trap, saying, “I thought we had tremendous chemistry.”
At the time, she was 26 and the American actor was 44. “He’s just such a guy,” she laughed, saying she felt like an “older” while he was a “younger” and it worked.
“Clearly, Meredith Blake is not an average 26-year-old,” Hendrix added of her ambitious character.
