Hailey Bieber talks about being pitted against Selena Gomez: 'It’s always annoying’

Hailey Bieber has once again addressed the long-standing rumours of tension between her and her husband’s ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, published on Tuesday, October 14, the 28-year-old supermodel clarified that she had absolutely nothing to do with the speculations that there was drama between her and the 33-year-old newly married star.

“It’s always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn’t ask for that,” Hailey said.

It is pertinent to mention that her interview took place just hours before the launch of Rhode at Sephora, the same retailer that carries Selena’s Rare Beauty.

The mom of one added, “When people want to see you a certain way and they’ve made up a story about you in their minds, it’s not up to you to change that.”

This isn't the first time Hailey has spoken about the narratives linking her to Selena.

Previously in 2023, she had publicly spoken out about two women being pitted against each other because of a man.

“I hate it. I’ve hated it since the beginning. There is no issue and there is no problem. It’s so disappointing that people still behave this way over a man. It’s the world we live in, unfortunately,” explains Hailey while speaking on The Circuit With Emily Chang.

It is worth noting that Justin Bieber went public with Selena Gomez’s relationship in 2011 and confirmed his relationship with Hailey Bieber in 2016.
