Elon Musk announces major overhaul to X’s algorithm
Elon Musk said that X is moving toward a fully AI-driven system

Elon Musk has revealed that X (formerly Twitter) will undergo a major transformation in how its algorithm recommends content to users.
The tech billionaire said that the platform is moving toward a fully AI-driven system designed to make recommendations more personalised and fair, especially for new and smaller accounts.
The announcement came after Musk replied to a post by DogeDesigner, a UX/UI designer for Dogecoin and MyDoge, who asked how X’s algorithm really works.
Musk responded, “The X recommendation system is evolving very rapidly. We are aiming for the deletion of all heuristics within 4 to 6 weeks.”
He explained that the platform’s in-house AI chatbot, Grok, will soon “literally read every post and watch every video, over 100 million per day, to match users with content they’re most likely to find interesting.”
Musk added that the update should solve one of X’s long-standing issues: great posts from smaller accounts going unseen.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO also announced that users will soon be able to adjust their feeds temporarily or permanently “just by asking Grok,” allowing for a more interactive and customisable experience.
Notably, this marks one of the biggest algorithmic updates since Musk took over the platform in 2022.
