Lily Allen is getting personal in her upcoming album, as she opens up about her split from ex-husband, David Harbour.

In an interview with British Vogue, published on October 17, the 40-year-old singer talked about the inspiration behind her new record which includes songs about the end of her marriage.

One track, Sleepwalking, includes the lyrics, “You let me think it was me in my head/ And nothing to do with them girls in your bed.”

Another song, Dallas Major, features Allen singing, “You know I used to be quite famous that was way back in the day/I probably should explain how my marriage has been open since my husband went astray.”

When asked if the songs directly refer to her relationship with Harbour, Allen replied, “There are things that are on the record that I experienced within my marriage, but that’s not to say that it’s all gospel. It is inspired by what went on in the relationship.”

The couple, who began dating in 2019, got married in a small Las Vegas ceremony in September 2020. In February this year, multiple sources confirmed that they had separated after four years together.

Following the breakup, a source told PEOPLE that Allen was “devastated and not in a good place”, adding that the split was “very hard for her and her girls.”

She shares two daughters, Marnie Rose and Ethel Mary, with her ex-husband Sam Cooper.

Allen later opened up about her mental health on her BBC podcast Miss Me?, saying, “I just feel very grateful to have been given the time and the space that I needed. I went into a sort of treatment centre for a few weeks, which was great.”

In March, Lily Allen also commented on ageing and relationships. “Older women can see the unattractiveness of men better than young, dumb women, which is why, essentially, men like them young and dumb,” she said.
