Prince Andrew keeps royal perk Prince Harry still fights for

Prince Andrew, despite surrendering his royal titles, continues to enjoy a privilege that Prince Harry has been fighting to regain for years — taxpayer-funded royal protection.

This week, the Duke of York shocked royal watchers by voluntarily giving up his titles, drawing inevitable comparisons to Prince Harry’s departure from royal duties five years ago. The move reignited debate over whether Andrew, like the Duke of Sussex, would lose his publicly funded security.

However, royal expert Christopher Andersen told Radar Online that Andrew’s situation remains different. 

“Even though he, like Harry, is no longer a working royal, it appears that he will continue to receive royal protection,” Andersen explained.

The author further noted that Andrew’s residence plays an important role in the decision, “The Duke of York still resides on the grounds of Windsor Great Park, not far from the rest of the family, so it goes with the territory.”

Meanwhile, Prince Harry is fighting a prolonged legal battle to secure similar protection for his family. After multiple court rejections, he recently appealed directly to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood for a formal review of his security status.
