Sabrina Carpenter reveals real story behind album artwork controversy on ‘SNL’
Sabrina Carpenter makes bold statement on ‘SNL’ following album cover backlash

Sabrina Carpenter made sure she cleared the air once and for all regarding the criticism surrounding her album artwork and the growing “misconceptions” about her personality during her Saturday Night Live monologue.
On Saturday, October 18, the 26-year-old songstress took the stage at the sketch comedy show, where she addressed the backlash that she has received over the past few years in a humorous monologue.
“Some people got a little freaked out by the cover,” she said, referencing the intense reaction which the artwork for her seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend, received.
Carpenter continued, “I’m not sure why? It was just this: me on all fours, with an unseen figure pulling my hair. But what people don’t realize is that’s just how they cropped it.”
“If you zoom out, it’s clearly a picture from the 50th anniversary special of Bowen [Yang] helping me up by the hair — after Martin Short shoved me out of the buffet line, saying something like, ‘Daddy needs his mini quiche’,” she hilariously explained.
Elsewhere in her three-minute, 33-second monologue, the Manchild hitmaker also spoke about the misconceptions people often have about her image, adding that she’s not only a “horned-up pop star.”
“I’m not just horny. I’m also turned-on, and I’m sexually charged, and I love to read. My favorite book is the encyclopedia. It’s so big, and it’s hard,” the Grammy-winning artist joked.
It is worth noting that Sabrina Carpenter’s appearance marked her second time as a Saturday Night Live musical guest and her debut as host.
