Jennifer Lopez’s bold new hair transformation sparks Gwen Stefani comparisons

Jennifer Lopez can pull off almost any look, but even she had doubts about her latest transformation.

In her upcoming film, Kiss of the Spider Woman, which she recently promoted on the red carpet with her ex-husband and the film’s co-producer Ben Affleck, J-Lo takes on several different hairstyles including a striking platinum blonde, a big change from her usual honey-brown balayage.

Speaking to CBS Mornings, the 56-year-old shared, “I didn't think that I was going to be able to pull it off but Bill Condon, writer and director, was adamant that Aurora be a Hollywood blonde. I didn't know how we were going to be able to do that but we figured it out.

Lopez added, “It was jarring at first. I felt like a totally different person. But I got very thin for the role and I wanted to embody what that kind of old Hollywood musical movie star was like.”

The Dance Again singer also posted behind-the-scene photos of her blonde look on Instagram, captioning them, “I will forever cherish my Kiss family. See you this weekend at the theatre!” 

The post drew hundreds of comments from fans praising her transformation.

“Marilyn Monroe vibes,” one follower wrote, while another commented, “JLo with her hair blonde for this movie and her facial features reminds me of Gwen Stefani. They could be twins.”

Makeup artist Scott Barnes, who worked with the actress on the film, added, “Still caught in her web. What a dream creating these three stunning transformations with you.”

Previously, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck reunited on the red carpet for the film’s premiere, appearing cheerful despite their divorce being finalised earlier this year. The former couple, who married in July 2022 after rekindling their romance but split again in August 2024, showed no tension as they posed together in New York.
