Prince Andrew’s alleged attempt to probe Virginia Giuffre’s private details: Report

Authorities are “actively” investigating claims that Prince Andrew sought private information about Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual assault before her death earlier this year.

According to leaked emails obtained by PEOPLE, the Duke of York allegedly asked his taxpayer-funded police protection officer to access Giuffre’s personal data, including her social security number and date of birth, more than a decade ago.

The emails were sent shortly before a now-infamous 2011 photo surfaced showing Andrew with a young Giuffre, who died by suicide in April at age 41. 

Moreover, reports note there is no evidence the officer complied with the request.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed, “We are aware of media reporting and are actively looking into the claims made.”

Energy Secretary Ed Miliband called the leaked correspondence “deeply concerning,” adding that “this is absolutely not the way that close protection officers should be used.”

The scandal reignites scrutiny over Andrew’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein, as a 2011 email allegedly showed Andrew telling Epstein, “We are in this together.”

Andrew, who has denied all wrongdoing, previously reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre in 2022, expressing “regret” for his association with Epstein.
