On Thursday’s Third Hour of the TODAY Show, the hosts talked about how friendly they are with their neighbours.

Al Roker kicked things off by asking Craig Melvin, Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones if they often chat with the people who live near them.

Dreyer shared a personal story about life in her Manhattan apartment, “Sometimes I’ll open the door and hear somebody else open their door and I’ll shut my door and wait till I hear the elevator ding,” she said.

Melvin was surprised and asked, “You really want to avoid those people?” to which Dreyer replied, “Not that I want to avoid them, it’s meaningless chit chat that neither one of us want to have.”

The American broadcaster also admitted he doesn’t chat with neighbours either, saying, “I don’t stop and talk to anybody.”

Dreyer joked that it might because Melvin’s house is so big. “Melvin’s neighbours live so far away, big property,” she teased.

The 44-year-old and her ex-husband, Brain Fichera, listed their NYC home for $2.5 million in January but after briefly pulling it off the market, they relisted it with a $500,000 price cut.

However, the new price is $1.99 million, a loss from their 2016 purchase at $2.35 million as the two-bedroom, apartment has views of Battery Park.

Although Dreyer isn’t close with her city neighbours, she has a warm bond with neighbours at her beachside home.

Hoda Kotb also shared, "Because Dylan Dreyer is our neighbour, her three boys often run into my house and play with my daughters all day long.”
