Jesse Plemons and Emma Stone become unlikely victims in Yorgos Lanthimos’ dark comedy ‘Bugonia’

Yorgos Lanthimos, known for his offbeat storytelling and surreal sensibilities, returns with another genre defying film featuring Jesse Plemons and Emma Stone as its unlikely leads — Bugonia, releasing October 31.

The dark comedy marks another collaboration between Lanthimos and Stone following critically acclaimed films like The Favourite and Poor Things.

In Bugonia, Plemons and Stone play two Americans who uncover a bizarre alien conspiracy, only to realize that they may be pawns in a much larger and more sinister plan.

The film, based on the 2003 South Korean sci-fi comedy Save the Green Planet!, Is being reimagined through Lanthimos’ signature lens of absurdity and discomfort.

Described as a “bold and twisted descent into paranoia”, Bugonia balances its comedic elements with an undercurrent of existential dread.
