Elon Musk suddenly delays major launch amid 'propaganda' concerns

Elon Musk has delayed the launch of his highly anticipated Wikipedia alternative, “Grokpedia,” claiming the platform needs more time to eliminate what he calls “propaganda.”

The xAI CEO said the decision was made to ensure the new platform offers a more “unbiased” approach to knowledge sharing.

Musk announced the delay in a post on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Postponing Grokipedia v0.1 launch to the end of the week. We need to do more work to purge out the propaganda.”

The tech billionaire had previously stated that an early beta version of Grokpedia would launch on October 20, but the release was halted a day later.

According to Musk, the issues stem from the data sources Grokpedia was trained on, not the platform itself.

He emphasised that even this early version is, in his opinion, “better on average than Wikipedia.”

Powered by xAI’s Grok model, Grokpedia aims to serve as a reliable and balanced knowledge base for both humans and AI systems.

Its creation follows Musk’s repeated criticism of Wikipedia, which he and several public figures, including US Senator Ted Cruz, have accused of political bias.

While many X users supported the delay, praising Musk’s commitment to transparency, others questioned who would decide what qualifies as “propaganda.”
