David and Victoria Beckham are once again stirring up drama owing to their countryside property as their neighbours aren’t happy at all.
According to The Sun, residents near the Beckhams’ £12 million Cotswolds mansion are fuming after spotting a surprising new feature on television.
The couple, who opened the doors to their lavish home for Victoria’s Netflix documentary, unknowingly revealed a massive sand-lined lake on their property and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Planning officials are reportedly investigating whether the Beckhams failed to disclose plans to add around 1,000 square feet of sand to the man-made lake.
While the 43-acre estate near Chipping Norton is usually hidden from public view, the beach-like feature appeared in the background of a scene featuring David and Victoria in the documentary.
A source told The Sun, “Neighbours think it is totally out of character for the surrounding area and they are very twitchy around adhering to the rules.”
The West Oxfordshire District Council has since confirmed that a report of a possible planning breach has been received and will be investigated.
This isn’t the first time the Beckhams’ countryside renovations have raised eyebrows. Their proposal to build a new barn for “agricultural storage” also drew objections from locals.
One resident, Harriet Jones, wrote to the council: “This is just the latest in a long line of applications to build new structures on this land, plus a giant lake. Why do famous people move out to the country and then clutter up their land with endless buildings and make silly alterations? It makes no sense.”
