Rihanna loses millions in luxury fashion fail with high-end French brand
Rihanna suffers major loss in failed collaboration with Louis Vuitton
Rihanna has reportedly suffered a significant financial loss after her luxury fashion venture with Louis Vuitton failed to compete successfully in the market.
According to the Daily Mail, financial records from her British company, Denim UK Holdings, revealed that the 37-year-old songstress suffered a whopping loss of $36 million (£27M) in result of a failed fashion deal with the aforementioned high-end brand.
The failure stemmed form the launch of her clothing range, Fenty, in 2019 in collaboration with the luxury French brand, which ultimately shut down in 2021 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The reports disclose that at the time of the deadly coronavirus, the travel restrictions stopped the Diamonds hitmaker from visiting the factories in Paris and Italy producing her designs.
Furthermore, the mother of three invested nearly €29,988,000 ($34.86M) into the launch of her brand to match Louis Vuitton’s parent company LVMH’s €30 million stake.
The French-based business had the trade name of Project Loud France, a reference to Rihanna's fifth album, Loud.
The Work singer, who has an estimated net worth of 1.4 billion dollars, invested the money through Denim UK Holdings and became a 49.99 percent partner shareholder.
Previously in 2021, Rihanna and LVMH made a mutual decision to completely shut down the fashion business to focus on cosmetics and lingerie.
“LVMH and Rihanna reaffirm their ambition to concentrate on the growth and the long-term development of the Fenty ecosystem, focusing on cosmetics, skincare and lingerie,” the joint statement read.
Fenty, named after Rihanna’s full name, was initially designed to expand her LVMH partnership into fashion, but its skyrocketing prices, failed to attract consumers.
On the personal front, Rihanna recently welcomed her third child, a baby girl, Rocki Irish Mayers, on September 13, 2025, with A$AP Rocky.
