Inside Selena Gomez’s private wedding: How she kept her wedding dress secret

Selena Gomez shared “sneaky” details of her intimate wedding day for the first time since tying the knot with music producer Benny Blanco.

During her appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show, the 33-year-old songstress disclosed the real reason about why she waited a long time to unveil the ceremony’s dress.

Gomez stated that she wanted to trick the paparazzi so they wouldn’t take pictures and share them online before the couple themselves had the chance to.

The Who Says singer revealed that she had used a fake dress to divert attention, as the high-neck Ralph Lauren dress which she wore in the images wasn’t the one she wore during the ceremony.

“I tried to do this sneaky thing—I’m sure you can relate—but I didn’t want anyone to get photos of my wedding unless it was from me,” Gomez said.

She added, "I keep my life as private as I can, so that dress was initially for the [first] look, and then this [lace ceremony] one was made by Ralph Lauren—they all were—but this was my favourite dress.”

For context, Gomez wore a total of four dresses at her wedding, which she shared on her Instagram account.

Previously, in a discussion with Fortune's Most Powerful Women conference, the Rare Beauty founder revealed how anxious she was just days before her big day.

“This is how I work personally, but [when] something great happens in my life, I expect something bad to happen,” she shared.

The Only Murders in the Building actress also noted, "So instead of being present and saying, ‘Okay, wow, we’ve done a great thing,’ which I do, I’m always thinking, ‘Okay, but this could all go away tomorrow. How can I make sure that doesn’t happen?’”

“I would say that’s my biggest conflict when wonderful things happen. I got married, and then I was sobbing because I was like, ‘I’m gonna die the next day.’ I think that’s a little life [quirk],’ Gomez concluded.
