King Charles, Queen Camilla visit Vatican City amid Prince Andrew fallout
King Charles and Queen Camilla’s Vatican trip marks first since Prince Andrew’s scandal

King Charles and Queen Camilla have recently embarked on a historical state visit to the Vatican following the fallout from Prince Andrew’s removal from royal titles.
On Wednesday, October 22, the British royal family took to their official Instagram handle to share an update on Their Majesties’ significant trip to Vatican City, where they will be meeting Pope Leo XIV.
According to media reports, Charles and Camilla, who married in 2005, landed at Ciampino 31st Wing Airport, where they were warmly welcomed on the red carpet by His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Holy See, Christopher Trott.
"The King and Queen have arrived for their State Visit to the Holy See. Swipe to read more about Their Majesties’ previous visits to the Holy See, Vatican City," read a statement from King Charles’ office.
Sharing an image of the royal couple, Buckingham Palace wrote, “This week, The King and Queen will visit the Holy See on a special State Visit."
"Their Majesties will join His Holiness Pope Leo XIV to celebrate the 2025 Jubilee Year. Traditionally marked every 25 years, the Jubilee is an important time for the Catholic Church," they added.
It is worth noting that the state visit, taking place from October 22 to 23, aims to highlight the close ties between the Catholic Church and the Church of England, of which the 76-year-old King serves as a Supreme Governor.
Prior to this trip, Charles and Camilla had also visited Vatican City earlier this year, where they met Pope Francis a few months before his passing.
The latest tour comes after the withdrawal of Prince Andrew’s titles was outlined in a statement released by Buckingham Palace on Friday, October 17, amid the controversy surrounding his association with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
