Kristen Bell’s 'tone-deaf' humour lands actress in trouble

Kristen Bell’s humourous comedy turned out to be controversial after her 'tone-deaf' attitude towards domestic violence sparked fury among many, leading the actress to miss her own show’s promotional appearance.
It all started when the 45-year-old actress decided to wish her husband, Dax Shepard a happy anniversary earlier this week on Instagram, writing, " Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me:
The Like Father star wrote, “I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.”
Since the post went viral, the Frozen actress, who is loves to pull pranks and has a humourous nature, received massive backlash as the commenters pointed out that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and said they found the post offensive.
As a result, Bell skipped her appearance on the Today show for her Netflix series, Nobody Wants This, whose season 2 is slated to premiere on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
Her costar Justine Lupe while addressing her absence from the event also opened about the Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie actress’ fondness for practical jokes, admitting that she’s obsessed with pranks.
"She will come to set and she’ll just pull up different pranks on her phone and show them to me,” Lupe said, adding, "So I knew that that was kind of her love language, was pranking."
