Elon Musk mocks OpenAI, Anthropic, MidJourney, calls Claude ‘pure evil’
Elon Musk has reignited his feud against major AI companies
Elon Musk has reignited his feud against major artificial intelligence (AI) companies, accusing them of bias and hypocrisy while claiming his own chatbot, Grok, as a fairer alternative.
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Musk mocked several rival AI firms, writing: “As expected, any given AI company will be the opposite of its name — OpenAI is closed, Stability is unstable, MidJourney isn’t mid, and Anthropic is misanthropic.”
The tech billionaire went a step further by labelling Anthropic’s Claude chatbot “pure evil,” sparking a wave of debate among tech enthusiasts.
Musk’s remarks were in response to an X post alleging that large language models (LLMs) often show racial and gender bias.
The post referenced a study from the Center for AI Safety, claiming that GPT-4o rated Nigerians roughly 20 times higher than Americans and that most AI models “view men as less valuable than women.”
The user praised Musk’s Grok 4 Fast model for being more “balanced across race, gender, and immigration status.”
Musk has repeatedly promoted Grok, developed by his company xAI, as a more transparent and authentic alternative to competitors such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and MidJourney.
His comments come amid growing concern over bias in generative AI systems and increasing pressure on tech companies to ensure fairness, accountability, and transparency in how their models evaluate human identities and values.
